Save a Life...Learn CPR

        HOW FAST DO YOUR READ?

BY THE TIME YOU REACH THE END OF THIS STORY SOMEONE WILL HAVE DIED FROM SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST . . .

…… maybe two if you are a slow reader.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest kills 335,000 people a year, about one every ninety seconds. If you have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in your home or your office, you can double the chance of surviving SCA. Although CPR is a vital step in the lifesaving process and can keep some blood flowing to your heart and brain for a short time, often only defibrillation can restore the heart’s normal rhythm and ultimately save your life.

With every minute your heart is in fibrillation, your life expectancy

goes down 10 percent.

In 6 minutes your brain is dead … 10 minutes – you’re dead.

Why should everyone learn CPR?

According to the American Heart Association:

About 75-80% of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home. Being CPR trained can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one.

Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, can double or triple a victim's chance of survival.

If bystander CPR is not provided, a sudden cardiac arrest victim's chances of survival fall 7-10% for every minute of delay until defibrillation. Few attempts at resuscitation are successful if CPR and defibrillation are not provided within minutes of collapse.
